Identified German foxhole grouping

This lot of relics were found in early 2020 in Konigsberg Prussia (modern day Kaliningrad Russia) in a single foxhole.

The helmet is an M40 model with Feldgrau paint. It has turned green because of an improper Oxalic Acid bath treatment. On the inner skirt, the name Wm. Sasse is painted. William Sasse was Born in 1905 n Hamburg Germany, and was captured an executed by the Russian March 6th, 1945. The helmet he wore was left in his foxhole as a sign of surrender.

Williams mess tin was hit four times by bullets. A single letter W is scratched on the upper section of the tin, and another single W is scratched on the remaining paint in the middle. The tin is marked S$SL40.

William also left behind a small tube of toothpaste and a container that held the cure for gas poisoning.
